Manus

Manus, the tool that many are calling the “DeepSeek of AI Agents.” Unlike ChatGPT or Claude, which primarily focus on chatting and generating text, Manus is an autonomous agent. Think of it less like a search engine and more like a digital employee: you give it a goal, and it goes out, researches, uses tools, and delivers the final result (like a spreadsheet or a website) on its own.

Remarks

Manus is designed for “General Purpose Automation.” Instead of just telling you how to do something, it actually does it.

  1. Deep Market Research: It can browse multiple financial sites, download data, perform Python-based analysis, and output a formatted investment report or Excel sheet.
  2. Web Development & Deployment: You can ask it to “Build a weather app for my city,” and it will write the code, set up the backend, and deploy it to a live URL.
  3. Data Extraction & Processing: It can take a zip file of 50 resumes, extract specific details into a table, and rank them based on your criteria.
  4. Workflow Integration: It can handle multi-step tasks like “Find me a list of software vendors, compare their pricing in a table, and draft an introductory email to the top three.”

Limitations

Because it is still in an early/rapid growth phase (launched March 2025 and recently acquired by Meta), there are several hurdles:

  1. Access & Scaling: It is currently in Beta and often requires an invitation code. Because it performs heavy computations, servers can be slow or temporarily unavailable during peak hours.
  2. “Brittle” Creativity: While excellent at data and logic, it can struggle with tasks requiring high emotional intelligence or nuanced creative writing (it tends to be very “matter-of-fact”).
  3. Web Barriers: It generally cannot bypass paywalls, solve complex CAPTCHAs, or create user accounts on external websites for you.
  4. Verification: It can occasionally “hallucinate” an action (thinking it completed a step when it didn’t), so humans still need to verify the final output for high-stakes work.

Step 1 : Sign Up and Access

Visit the Site: Go to manus.im.

Create an Account: Use your Google, Microsoft, Apple or Email address account for a quick setup.

Step 2 : Enter Your Request (The “Prompt”)

The interface looks like a chat box, but you should treat it like a Project Manager.
Be Specific: Instead of asking “What is SEO?”, say “Conduct an SEO audit of [URL] and provide a structured report in PDF format.”
Task Types: You can ask it to:
Build a full-stack website.
Create a presentation (slides).
Conduct “Wide Research” (deep-diving into multiple sources).
Manage emails or calendar events.

Step 3 : Monitor the “Thinking” Process

This is where Manus shines. Once you hit enter:
Task Breakdown: You will see a side panel where Manus lists the steps it plans to take (e.g., “Step 1: Search for industry trends,” “Step 2: Compare data”).
The Virtual Browser: You can actually watch a “cloud browser” open where the AI navigates websites, clicks buttons, and gathers info just like a human would.

Step 4 : Interact and Refine

While Manus is working, you don’t have to just sit there.
Add Info: If you realize you forgot a detail, type it in the chat. Manus will adjust its current plan to include the new info.
Review Mid-way: If you see it going in the wrong direction on the screen, you can intervene and correct it.

Step 5 : Review and Export Results

Once the task is finished:
Download Files: If you asked for a report, spreadsheet, or presentation, there will be a link to download the file.
Interactive Outputs: If you built a web app, it will provide a live URL where you can view and interact with the application.
Feedback: Give the result a thumbs up or down to help the model learn your preferences for next time.
