HKU SPACE AI Hub

The purpose of this project is to create an AI hub that integrates all emerging new AI solutions in a single site for all colleagues, teachers and students from both part-time and full-time colleges within the School. The AI hub will provide access to various AI tools and platforms, such as ChatGPT, Generative AI, Big Data analytics, and more. Comprehensive training and support for utilising these tools and platforms, as well as opportunities for collaboration and innovation, will be provided by the e-Learning Team following its strategic restructuring.

Objectives
  • To enhance the work efficiency and productivity of HKU SPACE staff and faculty by providing them with cutting-edge AI solutions that save their time, improve work performance, and optimize various tasks and processes.
  • To improve the quality and effectiveness of HKU SPACE education by providing teachers and students with AI solutions that can enrich their teaching and learning experience and enhance learning outcomes.
  • To foster a culture of innovation and creativity among HKU SPACE community by providing them with AI solutions that can inspire new ideas and solutions for real-world problems.
Expected Outcomes and Project Deliverables
  • A fully functional and user-friendly AI hub website that hosts various AI tools and platforms, as well as tutorials, guides, and resources for using them.
  • A series of workshops, users’ sharing seminars, and online courses that introduce and train HKU SPACE staff, faculty, teachers, and students on how to use the AI tools and platforms available in the AI hub.
  • A number of projects, competitions, and events that showcase and celebrate the use of AI tools and platforms in the AI hub for solving real-world problems.
  • The project deliverables are the tangible outputs or products that the project will produce. They are aligned with the project objectives and scope.
Project Mitigation Strategies
  • Conducting regular testing and maintenance of the AI tools and platforms or the AI hub website to ensure their functionality and reliability.
  • Conducting regular surveys and feedback sessions with the HKU SPACE community to assess their needs, preferences, satisfaction, and challenges with the AI tools and platforms or the AI hub website.
  • Establishing clear policies and guidelines on how to use the AI tools and platforms or the data collected by them in a responsible and ethical manner.
HKU Policy on Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence for Teaching and Learning

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is embracing generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools, such as ChatGPT, in teaching and learning to actively enhance students’ cognitive abilities and application skills. The University will provide resources and support, enabling staff and students to not only be users of GenAI but also pioneers in exploring its potential applications.
